Materials harder than diamond
These substances can scratch diamond:
- Some diamonds are harder than others.
- Borazon
- Cubic boron nitride
- Ultrahard fullerite
- Rhenium diboride
- Aggregated diamond nanorods
- A material called lonsdaleite (also called hexagonal diamond), confirmed to be 58% stronger than diamond and is the hardest material known to date.
- Aggregated diamond nanorods, a material created using ultrahard fullerite (C60)
- Wurtzite boron nitride
